"Engaging in activities that ensure and improve the availability and accessibility of low-income and affordable housing in the North Side Communities while improving the lives of families."
History
NCFH was formed in the summer of 1998 to respond to the potential mass eviction of over 300 families living in the Northside Associates Properties (formerly Northside Properties). NCFH represents the residents of Northside Associates. The governing body currently consists of a 13 member Board of Directors. All Northside Associates’ residents are members of NCFH and participation on the Board of Directors is available to any member who is interested. There are four standing committees – Fundraising, Finance, Membership/Management and Development.
Northside Associates was a 300 plus units, scattered site HUD-Assisted rental housing development in the Northside Area of the City of Pittsburgh. Beginning in August 1998, Northside Associates began to reach the end of its 15-year Section 8 subsidy and low-income rental use restriction. At that time Northside Associates announced its intention to evict the residents and board the properties up until the use restriction expired in 2003. In response to the crisis the residents formed the Northside Coalition For Fair Housing and began collaborating with other stakeholders to arrive at a possible solution.
NCFH is a non-profit, certified Community Housing Development Organization. With the capacity to create housing and economic development opportunities for low wealth individuals and families in the North Side of Pittsburgh. NCFH has successfully driven a project to acquire ownership in the 324 Northside associates development. Our mission is to engage in activities that preserve the long-term affordability, quality and diversity of housing in the Pittsburgh North Side communities, while improving the quality of life for all North Side residents.
"TELLING THE STORY"

WE ALL KNOW WHERE IT IS WE WOULD LIKE TO BE!
THIS IS JUST A REMINDER OF WHERE WE HAVE BEEN!
AND HOW TOGETHER WE WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
The Northside Coalition mantra is “WE KNOW WE CAN.” We believein our mission and in, the future, the possibilities and the gifts, of our resident members. Our mantra is a reminder that Northside Coalition members will not fall victim to the stereotypes and low expectations implied by the type of housing we reside in Instead, NCFH members believe in our potential and our collective ability to achieve success in life, at home and in the community. TOGETHER, “WE KNOW WE CAN”.
The Northside Coalition for Fair Housing is organized around the following philosophy:
The Northside Coalition for Fair Housing is a 501c3 organization. A vehicle moving at the federal, state, and local level to inspire the North Side neighbors and neighborhoods to be more proactive regarding equity, sustainability, health and safety. We want neighborhoods that shelter and support all people no matter their race, income level or physcial ability.
